The Sunny Side of Cambodia
It is encouraging to note that Minister Sun has been upbeat about making it easier to do business in Cambodia, without hassle and without hurdles, for both foreign and domestic investors (“Investors: Take Note“). However, this may not be the case in reality when one is a complete stranger to top government officials and political leaders who still want to have their way. One thing’s for sure: Cambodia is trying hard to open up in the shortest possible time. Its low labor cost remains the greatest attraction to many foreign businessmen from China and Singapore. Meanwhile, the government seems determined to contain corruption and malpractices. With new infrastructure and buildings mushrooming, Phnom Penh is transforming itself into a lively modern city, attractive and glittering at night.
